Mike Lowell singles, I pinch-run with Coco Crisp, and Crisp scores easily from first on a Youk double in the first meeting of the year between the two teams. The score could have been much different though. Manny Ramirez ran into hard luck today, as three times on a ballpark homer chance he was denied a homerun due to Fenway being a lousy place for ballpark homers. |

Kevin Youkilis collected 3 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox

Boston won the game with a run in the 8th inning. After an out was recorded,
Mike Lowell was hit by a pitch. Youkilis came next and he doubled. J.D.
Drew was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Kansas City made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Mike Timlin(2-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Jonathan
Papelbon gained credit for his 7th save. Ramon Ramirez(4-2) was the losing
pitcher in relief.
