| Both bullpen are up to the task as all runs are scored off of the starting pitchers, Adam Eaton and Brian Backe. The 'Stros played it tough, as when the Phils scored in the 1st, 2nd and 4th innings Houston immediately tied the game in the bottom of the respective innings including a solo homerun for pitcher Backe in the 4th. The Phillies finally take a lead that sticks in the top of the 7th when Greg Dobbs hits a pinch-hit double, Shane Victorino singles and Chace Utley knocks Dobbs home on another single. For Victorino, with a 2 for 5 day. he now again has enough plate appearances as of yesterday's game to qualify for the batting title. Vic now leads the National League (and all of the majors) in batting with the sizzling .414 average and the only .400 hitter still left in the majors at this point of the season. |

One run was the difference at Minute Maid Park as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the Houston Astros 5 to 4.
In the top of the 7th inning Philadelphia went on top for good plating an
isolated run utilizing 3 base hits. Both teams finished the game with 12
hits.
Rudy Seanez(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Seanez got
relief help from Brad Lidge who gained credit for his 10th save. Brandon
Backe(2-5) was tagged with the loss.
