May 25, 2008 Astros 5, Phillies 4

Nowhere near as close as the score indicates as the Astros, specifically starter Chris Sampson, had the Phillies in check all game. Sampson retired the first 18 consecutive Phillies with a perfect game through the first 6 innings until Jimmy Rollins doubles to lead off the 7th. Rollins would score on a sac fly, but Houston already had a 5-0 lead at that point.

The Phillies make it interesting in the top of the 9th when Chase Utley rips a 3-run homerun with two out off of Jose Velarde (in a non-save situation), but Velarde strikes out Ryan Howard to end the game.

Chris Sampson took a no-hitter into the 7th inning and Miguel Tejada went yard
and had 3 RBI as the Houston Astros topped the Philadelphia Phillies by a
score of 5 to 4 at Minute Maid Park.

Sampson(5-2) was virtually untouchable. He was stingy on the mound, allowing
just 1 hit and no walks in 8 innings reducing his ERA from 3.14 to 2.87. The
right-handed Sampson had his no-hit bid broken up by Jimmy Rollins who
doubled with nobody out in the 7th inning. Philadelphia had a chance in the
9th but they came up short.

Cole Hamels(3-4) was given the loss. 'You have to give Philadelphia credit,
they fought us tough to the end' Cecil Cooper said. 'It could have gone
either way, but I'm glad we pulled out the victory.'
