| Bartolo Colon gets his first win in a Red Sox uniform when the offense bails him out by turning a 3-2 Seattle lead into a 5-3 Sox lead with a 3-run 7th inning. Colon goes 6, Manny Declarmen goes one inning, and Mike Timlin thanks to a quick 7 pitch 8th inning stays in for the 9th and converts the save for his first save of the year. What doomed the Mariners was taking out Felix Hernandez. He had been smoking right along with 10 strikeouts through 6 and only allowing one earned run, but at almost 100 pitches was replaced by Sean Green in the 7th. Green allows the three Sox runs and gets the loss. |
