| The Nats make it interesting, but in th end the Phils come out on top. Ryan Zimmerman got the Nats off to a good start with a 2-run homerun in the first inning, but that lead is quickly erased with 5 Phillie runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Ryan Howard is a big part of that rally, with a solo homer in the 2nd and a 2-run shot in the 3rd. But, the Phils lose the 5-2 lead when the Nationals score 4 runs in the 6th inning, and then the rally with a Phillie run in the 7th to tie the score thanks to Jimmy Rollins. Rollins singles, stole 2nd and 3rd (3 steals on the day for Rollins) and comes home on a Victorino single to tie the game back up at 6. In the Phillie 10th, Howard sits on second base with two outs as Pedro Feliz lifts a fly ball toward left fielder Wily Mo Pena. Pena drops the ball for the error, Howard scores to give the Phils the lead, and Brad Lidge goes back to his old self striking all 3 Nats hitters in the bottom of the 10th for the save. That is just a summary, the full play account will follow the box score in the blog for your perusal. |
