J.D. Drew hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
Kansas City Royals by a score of 4 to 2 at Fenway Park.
Boston brought 2 runs across the plate in the bottom of the 5th inning. The
key at-bat was by Mike Lowell who made the crowd come alive when he cleared
the fences for a two-run home run (his 5th of the season). Boston had 8 hits
for the night.
Justin Masterson(1-0) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Masterson
was helped out by Jonathan Papelbon who recorded his 8th save. Gil
Meche(2-5) was the loser.
The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 28-20. Kansas City can't seem to
snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over
the last couple weeks.
