Pitcher Brett Myers almost has as many hits with the bat as he allowed for the game, going 2 for 3 at the plate with a double while allowing 3 hits through 7 innings. Myers also breaks a personal 3 game losing streak with the win. You may notice in the box score that Eric Bruntlett came in to pinch-run for Utley in the 8th inning, which may seem a bit odd. Utley was hit by a pitch, and the play by play says that the pitch nailed him in the head and he was helped down to first base. Just to keep things a bit realistic, I took Utley out of the game at that point as any player would be if they were beaned in the head. Bruntlett is my only other second baseman on the team, so he came in to play second in the top of the 9th. |
