Second baseman Chase Utley jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the
Philadelphia Phillies topped the New York (NL) Mets by a score of 6 to 4 at
Citizen's Bank Park.
Philadelphia tallied 5 runs in the 5th inning when they had 4 base hits. The
critical plate appearance was by Utley who made the Philadelphia fans a happy
lot when he cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 7th of the
season). Brad Lidge relieved and was untouched by New York (NL) as he
recorded the save, his 2nd.
Jamie Moyer(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 5 innings. Oliver
Perez(1-2) absorbed the loss. He gave up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.
'I always am most impressed when a pitcher finds a way to win even without his
best stuff,' Charlie Manual said after the game. 'Moyer did not have command
of his pitches most of the afternoon, but he proved he really knew how to
pitch!'
