April 19, 2008 Rangers 7, Red Sox 5 (10)

A wild beginning and a wild end in this one. In the Rangers 1st inning after consecutive singles by Ian Kinsler and Michael Young put runners on first and third, Young breaks for second on a steal. Jason Varitek throws toward second, and Kinsler breaks for home. Pedroia catches the ball at second and wings it back home to try to get Kinsler, but he is safe! A double steal, Young steals second and Kinsler steals home. First two batters of the game, nonetheless.

The score end up 2-2 after three innings, and quiets down after that and stays that score through the regulation nine. The floodgates open in the 10th with 8 runs in the inning, 5 for the Rangers and 3 for the Sox. Julio Lugo, hitless to that point, comes to the plate representing the tying run in the bottom of the 10th for the Red Sox but grounds out, ending his season long hitting streak at 18 games.

The entire crazy, wild 10th inning:

Ian Kinsler blasted a homerun and scored 3 times at Fenway Park as the Texas
Rangers beat the Boston Red Sox in 10 innings 7 to 5.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Finally, Texas pulled the game
out in the 10th inning. The highlight belonged to Hank Blalock who silenced
the crowd when he cracked a two-run shot (his 3rd of the season). Texas and
Boston each finished the night with 11 hits.

Dustin Nippert(2-0) went 2 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. C.J. Wilson
recorded his 4th save. Manny Delcarmen(1-1) was hit with the loss in relief.

With this win, Texas has a 8-10 record. They have been 4-6 lately. Even with
the loss, Boston still has a nice 8-2 record in recent weeks. They are 11-8
on the season.
