Chase Utley finds the light air of the Mile High City to his liking, as his 2-run homer in the top of the 8th gives the Phillies the lead that they never relinquish. Brad Lidge goes the final two innings today for his third save of the year. The homer for Utley gives his 8 for the season, one off the major league lead held currently by Mike Jacobs of the Marlins who has 9. You may notice that Taylor Buchholz got the loss for the Rockies. Now that can't be a very common last name, so I looked it up and him and Clay aren't related at all in any way! That kinda surprised me with an uncommon name like that. |

Second baseman Chase Utley went deep and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia
Phillies defeated the Colorado Rockies 4 to 3 at Coors Field.
Philadelphia won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2
runs on 2 hits. Jayson Werth kicked off the action when he doubled. Utley
stepped into the batter's box and he smashed a two-run homer (his 8th of the
season). One out later, Pat Burrell dug into the batters box next, but he
struck out. Geoff Jenkins came up and he drew a walk. Philadelphia rapped
out 10 hits for the night.
The winning pitcher was Ryan Madson(1-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Brad Lidge earned his 3rd save. Taylor Buchholz(0-1) was the losing pitcher
in relief. He pitched 1 inning and surrendered 2 hits and 1
walk.
Philadelphia now has a record of 10-10. Colorado continued their losing ways
and their record is now 6-13, worst in the division. They are 1-9 in their
last ten games.
