| No chance at all for the Phillies today, with the Cubs scoring 4 runs in the very first inning off of Cole Hamels. Leadoff batter Alfonzo Soriano rips one into the seats on the very first pitch, Mark Derosa adds a solo shot of his own, and two other runs score on a sac fly and a groundout. Hamels settles down nicely after the 1st inning debacle until being pinch-hit for in the 6th. Ryan Madson and Tom Gordon each allow 2 runs in the 8th and 9th respectively. Madson's runs come on a bases loaded hit batter and walk to consecutive batters, while Aramis Ramirez hit a 2-run hoemrun off of Gordon. Chicago's Ted Lilly has no trouble with the Phillie batters, allowing only a run through his 8 innings of work. Could have been more, but Chase Utley twice lined into doubleplays with the runner on second being doubled off each time to end two seperate innings. |
