April 9, 2008 Mets 8, Phillies 3

Shane Victorino keeps his season long hitting streak alive with a 2 out, 2 run double in the 9th during garbage time and Pat Burrell hits his second homerun of the year in the 4th, but those were the only good things for the Phillies today as the Mets control from the beginning. This was the date that in my earlier season attempt that Mike Pelfrey threw the no-hitter against the Phils. Not this time, but Pelfrey still gets the win allowing only one run.

The New York (NL) Mets had very little trouble at Shea Stadium downing the
Philadelphia Phillies. The score was 8 to 3.

The New York (NL) fans enjoyed the offense provided by Carlos Delgado. He
doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 1st inning, stroked a base-hit in
the 4th inning and lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' (his 3rd of the season) in
the 6th inning. New York (NL) out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 12 hits to
5.

The winning pitcher was Mike Pelfrey(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 6 and 2/3
innings. Kyle Kendrick(0-1) took the loss. He pitched 4 innings and
surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk.
