April 5, 2008 Blue Jays 14, Red Sox 1

Today was all Jays, as they assault the trio of Clay Buchholz, Kyle Snyder and Brian Corey for 14 runs with 4 runs in the 3rd inning, 5 in the 4th and 5 more in the 6th inning. Hideki Okajima and Jonathan Papelbon stop the bleeding, but way way too late. Dustin Pedroia finally put the Red Sox on the scoreboard with a solo homerun in the 8th inning as the offensive struggles continue.

And yes, you read that batting average for David Ortiz right - .000! So far for the season, 0 for 23 slump with 3 walks. Not very Papi-like, and not exactly what you want to see from your number three hitter. I knew Kyle Snyder would suck the joint out (just look at his card!), but to keep it realistic he has to pitch sometime so this was the game to do it in as he came in with the Sox already down 7-0. Snyder pitches as expected, shitty!

First baseman Lyle Overbay blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI at Rogers Centre as
the Toronto Blue Jays embarrassed the Boston Red Sox by the lopsided score of
14 to 1.

Overbay made sure the Toronto fans enjoyed themselves. He doubled resulting
in a run in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 4th inning and hit a bases-empty
home run (his 2nd of the season) in the 6th inning. Toronto had 16 hits for
the afternoon while Boston had 7.

Jesse Litsch(1-0) went 8 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Clay
Buchholz(0-1) was given the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners
