April 7, 2008 Reds 3, Phillies 2

Another tough loss for the Phils, as Paul Bako singlehandedly carries the Reds offense. Bako knocks in all 3 Reds runs with a solo homerun in the 3rd, an RBI triple in the 5th and another solo homer in the 8th off of Ryan Madson. That homerun in the 8th for Bako put Cincy back in front after the Phillies had tied it on a Carlos Ruiz RBI double in the 7th and a Shane Victorino RBI single in the 8th. Vic's single scored Jimmy Rollins, who had walked and advanced to third when Francisco Cordero's pickoff attempt sailed into the dugout.

Bronson Arroyo carried a no-hitter for the Reds into the 6th inning, which was broken up when the leadoff batter singled. Who broke up the no-hitter? Opposing pitcher Cole Hamels, believe it or not. After another single, Arroyo's day was surprisingly over. Early hook seems like, since he had a 2-0 lead and only threw 71 pitches to that point.

WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Bronson Arroyo robbed Geoff Jenkins of a base hit.

Bronson Arroyo carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Paul Bako rocketed
2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the Philadelphia
Phillies 3 to 2 at Great American Bpk.

Bako had a good day at the plate. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in
the 3rd inning, tripled knocking in a run in the 5th inning and smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 2nd of the season) in the 8th inning. Cincinnati
managed only 4 hits on the afternoon.

The win was credited to Francisco Cordero(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing 1
run. The right-handed Arroyo had his no-hit bid broken up by Cole Hamels who
singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Ryan Madson(0-2) was the losing
pitcher in relief.
