As the season restarts, four Sox hurlers combine to one-hit the A's and the SOx cruise to the win in Japan. Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed the only hit, but7 walks in the game only allowed him to go 6 innings. Manny Declarmen, Javier Lopez and Jonathan Papelbon go the rest of the way with Paps getting save number one. The two Sox runs were scored via a Jacoby Ellsbury solo homerun in the 3rd inning and a Mike Lowell double in the 4th which scored Manny from first on a 1-10 safe chance at home.

Daisuke Matsuzaka(1-0) and Joe Blanton(0-1) treated the Oakland fans to a fine
pitching duel at McAfee Coliseum.  The Boston Red Sox eventually emerged as
victors over the Oakland Athletics by the score of 2 to 0.
 
Matsuzaka had a solid outing for Boston.  He went 6 innings surrendering 1 hit
and 7 walks.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was
able to score again.  
 
Jonathan Papelbon gained credit for his 1st save.
