| Despite the hits being even at 11 apiece, the Phillies come out on top where it counts - on the scoreboard. Five walks issued by Nats pitchers (Pat Burrell walked 3 times), homeruns for Chase Utley and Shane Victorino, and Jamie Moyer helping his own cause with a walk and a 2-run single give the Phillies the extra push they need to come out on top. Nats starter Jason Bergmann can't get out of the 3rd inning, as the Phils get 6 of their runs in the first 3 innings. Moyer begins his 23rd major league season in fine style, getting into the 6th inning despite allowing 10 hits and gets the win along with his prowress at the plate today. Not bad for a dude who is 45 years old!! |
