| The Red Sox can't wait to get out of Canada as the Jays score double digits for the third straight game, handing the Sox their 5th straight loss. Josh Beckett's first start of the year does not go as he wanted, as after Manny Ramirez's solo shot in the 2nd inning put the Sox up 1-0 a 2-run single for Alex Rios and a 3-run homerun for Vernon Wells give the Jays a 5 run 3rd inning. Roy Halladay goes the distance on the mound for the Blue Jays, striking out 9 and only allowing the one run. Halladay's first start of the year was a complete game shutout, so one run in 18 innings so far is pretty damn good. The tablesetters at the top of the order continue to play offensive offense, one of the big reasons the Sox are 2-5. A pathetic .096 average for the top three so far (8 for 83), with David Ortiz still hitless in the season's first seven games now at 0 for 27. Maybe the friendly confines of Fenway Park will breathe some life into the team as well as Big Papi, as after a day off the home opener against the Detroit Tigers is next on the schedule. |
