| Not looking good in the early going, as Tim Wakefield gives up three gopher balls to the Rays in the first four innings to give Tampa the 4-1 lead after 4. The score stays that way until the top of the 7th, when the RedSox bust it open with a six run inning, scoring three runs on two singles hit through the drawn in Rays infield. To add to the Rays defensive misery, Dustin Pedroia rips a single through the drawn in infield in the 8th, scoring two more. Overall, the Sox get 5 of their runs on three hits through a drawn in infield. Sometimes the drawn in infield works like a charm, and sometimes it doesn't. Wake gets saved from the loss after that Sox 7th, and gets his second win of the year. Kevin Youkilis gets three hits, and Manny, Pedroia and Lugo each have multiple hit games. For Julio Lugo, it puts him back on top in the AL batting race, now with a .410 average. Only twice this year, after the first game and a couple of games ago after a 3 for 19 slump, has Lugo's batting average been below the .400 mark. |
