| Before today, Randy Wolf for the Padres was 4-0 with an ERA of 0.53. Then he ran into the firing squad, as the Phils tee off against their former staff ace with 3 homers and 5 runs in 4 innings, upping Wolf's ERA by over a run and handing him his first loss of the season. Five homeruns overall for the Phillies with Shane Victorino, Jayson Werth, Chase Utley, Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell all handing the fans in the outfield seats some souveniers. Adam Eaton gets his best start of the year only allowing one run in almost 7 innings of work for the win. For Howard, Utley and Burrell it gives each of them 9 homeruns on the year, now tied for 2nd in the NL homer race behind the Marlins' Mike Jacobs who has a major-league leading 11. It also gives the Phillies as a team 41 homeruns, which leads the National League and is second in the majors behind the 42 for the Chicago White Sox. |

At Citizen's Bank Park the San Diego Padres were battered 7 to 2 by the
Philadelphia Phillies.
Philadelphia started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half
of the first scoring 2 runs. Shane Victorino led off and started the attack
as he was hit by a pitch. Jayson Werth stepped into the batter's box and he
popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 3rd of the season). Chase Utley
was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Ryan Howard struck out, unable
to help the rally. Philadelphia totaled 8 hits on the night.
The victory was credited to Adam Eaton(3-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Randy Wolf(4-1) was the loser. He served up 3 gopher balls
in 4 innings.
