April 30, 2008 Padres 5, Phillies 2

The Phillies trail from the get-go, as San Diego gets four early runs in the very first inning, with the big blow being a Scott Hairston 3-run bomb, and give Jamie Moyer the loss. It also didn't help that Chris Young was smoking right along on the mound for the Padres, as he didn't allow his first hit until the 5th inning. The Phils finally got a couple of runs off him in 7th, but not enough.

The San Diego Padres registered 4 runs in the 1st inning and defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 5 to 2 at Citizen's Bank Park.

San Diego claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 4 runners on 3
hits. That early scoring was all that Chris Young(4-1) needed. Young was
helped out by Trevor Hoffman who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his
12th save.

Jamie Moyer(3-3) was charged with the loss. The San Diego ballclub's record
now stands at 16-12. Philadelphia has a record of 13-15 after the loss.
