| Manny Ramirez flexes his muscle, hammering a 3-run game tying homerun in the 3rd inning with all three runs being unearned due to two Toronto errors on the previous two batters and two outs in the inning, and a nice 3 for 4 day for Coco Crisp, but it is not enough as Vernon Wells hits a 2-run homer on David Aardsma's first pitch of the game in the 8th inning. The Sox do mount a threat off of B.J.Ryan in the 9th as they score a run and get the tying run to third with two outs, but pinch-hitter JD Drew flies out to end the game. A.J. Burnett gets the win for the Jays allowing no earned runs because of the previously mentioned errors, and Manny Declarmen gets the loss for the Sox when the runner he put on base is knocked home by the Wells homer off Aardsma. |

WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Jed Lowrie robbed Vernon Wells of a base hit.
The Toronto Blue Jays edged the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park by the score of
5 to 4.
Toronto came through with the game-winning runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs
utilizing 3 base hits. Matt Stairs opened up the inning nicely when he hit a
single. Vernon Wells stepped into the batter's box and he cleared the fences
for a two-run home run (his 9th of the season). After an out was recorded,
Shannon Stewart stepped in and he laced a base-knock. David Aardsma then had
one get away for a wild pitch. Rod Barajas came to the plate and was walked
intentionally. Marco Scutaro was a strikeout victim, unable to help out.
Alex Rios followed and he drew a walk to load the bases. Boston made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
A.J. Burnett(3-2) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Burnett got
relief help from B.J. Ryan who gained credit for his 5th save. Manny
Delcarmen(2-2) was the loser in relief.
