May 5, 2008 Red Sox 10, Togers 4

The Red Sox begin the first of two 10 game road trips this season (the second is the end of June into early July) with a stop in the Motor City in the first game of a four game set. They come out swinging, as back-to-back homeruns for Manny and Mike Lowell chase Tigers starter Jeremy Bonderman from the game in the 3rd inning and the Sox lead 7-0 after 3 1/2. Daisuke Matsuzaka lets Detroit get back in the game as three Tigers his balls over the fence to narrow the score to 7-4, but a 3 run Sox 7th puts the game away. Note the marathon relief effort for Aquilno Lopez as he throws 83 pitches in relief for the Tigers in 4 1/3 innings! With all the run support, more than enough for Dice-K and he gets his major-league leading 6th win of the season.
