In a close game the Cleveland Indians got by the New York (AL) Yankees in 18
innings by the score of 5 to 3.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Cleveland was victorious in
the 18th inning. Ryan Garko got things going when he drew a walk. Franklin
Gutierrez stepped into the batter's box and he reached on an error. Travis
Hafner then stroked a one-base hit. Ben Francisco came up and he laced a
base-hit. Two outs later Grady Sizemore stepped up to the plate and he drew
a walk to load the bases. Cleveland totaled 11 hits on the night.
The victory went to Craig Breslow(2-0) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Ross Ohlendorf(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 2
hits and 1 walk in 1 and 2/3 innings.
