| Jay Bruce of the Reds, in the bottom of the 9th with a runner on base against Jonathan Papelbon, blasts one over the fence for a two-run walk-off homer and a Reds comeback victory - that is what the box score honestly should read. Cincinnati is a 1-18 homerun park, and when the N rated Bruce gets a ballpark homer chance off of Paps my heart dropped. But, the split card comes up a 20 and it is just a long fly out. WHEW!!! Tim Wakefield holds the Reds hitless until pinch-hitter Jolbert Cabrera singles with one out in the 6th, but in the 7th Wake falls apart as the Reds get four runs back off of Wake and Javier Lopez. That 5-4 score holds up thanks to the split card miracle. Four runs for Cincinnati on only three hits thanks to 8 Sox walks and two Wake hit batters. The Reds 7th inning, which totally changed the game: *** BOTTOM OF INNING 7 *** 0 K.Griffey J 3- 9 1 Fly Out b-0 1 B.Phillips 5- 4 6 Ground Out b-0 2 A.Dunn 1- 3 5 HBP b-1 2 1 E.Encarnaci 3- 7 4 Walk 1-2 b-1 2 12 J.Votto 1- 9 2 5 Triple 2-H 1-H b-3 2 3 P.Bako 4- 5 4 1 Base Error - SS 3-H b-1 SUBSTITUTE PH- Andy Phillips 2 1 A.Phillips 1- 5 5 Walk 1-2 b-1 SUBSTITUTE P - Javier Lopez 2 12 J.Bruce 5- 5 5 Walk 2-3 1-2 b-1 2 123 P.Janish 3- 8 4 Walk 3-H 2-3 1-2 b-1 2 123 K.Griffey J 1- 7 20 3 Line Out b-0 |

Tim Wakefield carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Jacoby Ellsbury had
2 base hits at Great American Bpk as the Boston Red Sox beat the Cincinnati
Reds by the count of 5 to 4.
Wakefield(5-4) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 2 hits and 4 walks in 6

Cabrera doubled with one out in the 6th inning. Cincinnati threatened in the
9th but their rally came up short.
Jonathan Papelbon was credited with his 10th save. Edinson Volquez(3-6) was
tagged with the loss. Boston now has a record of 40-31. With this loss,
Cincinnati has a 6-4 record of late, 37-33 overall.
