June 3, 2008 Phillies 8, Reds 3

The balls fly out of the park today as the Phils rip the Reds pitching to the tune of 5 homeruns as part of a 14 hit attack. Pat Burrell launches 2, while Pedro Felix and Chase Utley each add one for the fans in the bleachers. Chris Snelling also got in on the act, launching a pinch-hit homerun for the first Phillie PH homer for the season. Adam Eaton continues to surprisingly impress, going to 6-2 with the win unde his belt.

Speaking of wins, Jason Marquis of the Chicago Cubs got a win over the Padres today to up his major-league leading record to 8-0 remaining the last undefeated pitcher. 8 and 7 are the two leading win totals in the majors with a total of 9 pitchers in those two spots, two of them being Cubs. Along with Marquis, Carlos Zambrano has 7 wins at 7-4. Good reason why the Cubs have the major league's best record at 40-19 as on top of having the best ERA in the NL (3.32) they are also second in the NL (and majors) in batting average at .288!
