June 2, 2008 Red Sox 5, Orioles 4 (10)

After JD Drew homers in the top of the 6th to give the Sox a 4-1 lead and with Tim Wakefield rolling right along, things were looking good. Then, it fell apart. Wake loads the bases in the 7th with two of the runners scoring which lowers the lead to one run. Then with two out in the 8th, Paps comes in for the save and almost blows it. He makes an error on a Kevin Millar single and throws over first for Orioles on 2nd and 3rd, but gets out of it with the save still intact.

In the bottom of the 9th, some sloppy defense by teammates costs Papelbon the save. A 2 base error by Julio Lugo (his second error of the game) puts Adam Jones on second base. Jones goes to third on a groundout, and Kevin Cash (who hit his first homerun of the year earlier in the game) misplays a pitch for a passed ball with two outs which allows Jones to score and ties the game 4-all. JD Drew comes through again for the Sox with his second homer of the game in the top of the 10th to give them the lead back, and Paps stays in for the bottom of the 10th retiring the O's in order and ends up getting the win!!

With the win, the Sox take 3 of 4 over the Orioles and end a 10 game road trip at 6-4 on the trip.
