| Pity the poor Chicago White Sox. How many teams can score 14 runs in a game and still lose? The ChiSox did pull off almost a spectacular comeback though. After the first 3 1/2 innings Texas led 14-3. Chicago then scored 9 runs over the 4th, 5th and 6th innings to close the gap down to 2 runs trailing after 6, 14-12. The Rangers outscore the White Sox over the final three innings 6-3 to break the 20 run mark and become the fifth team to score 20 or more in one game in 2008. The 34 runs in the game sets a season high for most runs by both teams in a game this year beating the previous high of 28 in a game that oddly enough the Rangers also won (16-12 win over Detroit). Not all is bad in Chicago today however, as the Cubs rip the Diamondbacks 21-7 for two of the five 20 run games occuring today. The other three are: the Nationals (believe it or not!) in a 20-5 win over St. Louis on April 4th, the Orioles (20-5 over Seattle on April 7th), and the Indians (22-2 win over Detroit on June 9th). |

Chris Davis smashed 2 homeruns at US Cellular Field where the Texas Rangers
beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox by the score of 20 to 14.
Davis was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He quieted the crowd by clouting a Grand Slam in the
1st inning and delivered a solo blast in the 3rd inning. Texas bats were
very productive in the 1st inning which saw them plate 6 runs on 5 hits and
the 3rd inning with 7 runs on 7 hits. Chicago (AL) scored in 6 different
innings, but their shaky pitching kept them from victory.
The win was credited to Eddie Guardado(6-1) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Clayton Richard(0-1) was the loser.
