July 24, 2008 Phillies 4, Mets 3

The Phils go to their strength - the long ball - ripping four homeruns off of Oliver Perez with back-to-back blasts in the 2nd for Pedro Feliz and Chris Coste and homers in the 4th for Ryan Howard and Shane Victorino, both innings giving the Phillies leads after falling behind. Jamie Moyer will get his 9th win with a six inning quality start, and Brad Lidge goes the 9th for his 20th save. Of note in a losing cause for the Mets is pitcher Aaron Heilman, who in his two innings of work recorded five of the six outs via strikeout getting more K in two innings than Perez had in seven innings and three more whiffs than all three Phillie pitchers had today.

Third baseman Pedro Feliz went yard as the Philadelphia Phillies topped the
New York (NL) Mets by a score of 4 to 3 at Shea Stadium.

Philadelphia scored 2 runs in the 4th inning when they had 3 base hits. Ryan
Howard began the Philadelphia spurt when he smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly'.
After an out was recorded, Shane Victorino stepped up to the plate and he
delivered a solo blast. After another out, Chris Coste stepped in and he hit
a single. Jamie Moyer was the next batter, but he struck out. Neither team
managed to score after the 4th inning.

The victory was credited to Moyer(9-7) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs.
