| JD Drew rips a 3-run homer and Mike Lowell adds a solo shot while a very wild Andy Pettitte can't get out of the 2nd inning as the Sox roll to the win over the Yankees. Pettittee, in his brief 1 1/3 inning appearance, threw two consecutive wild pitches allowing a run to score while walking three, alowing four hits and three runs. Tim Wakefield gets his fifth win in his last seven starts for his team leading 10th win. Justin Masterson pitched a spotless 7th and 8th and I was debating when it came to the 9th whether to leave him in for a three inning save or bring in Papelbon with the three run lead, but a Sox run in the bottom of the 8th took the lead to four runs and negated the save chance for Paps. Craig Hansen took the 9th to get some action, entrusted with a four run lead and doesn't walk anyone while striking out two! |

J.D. Drew connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI at Fenway Park as the
Boston Red Sox beat the New York (AL) Yankees 7 to 3.
The Boston fans enjoyed the offense provided by Drew. He lofted a three-run
bomb in the 5th inning and doubled in the 8th inning. Boston finished with
10 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Tim Wakefield(10-6) who went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Andy Pettitte(5-7) absorbed the loss. He allowed 4 hits and 3 walks in 1 and
1/3 innings.
