| It took over four months and this game sure as hell wasn't pretty, but Jason Bergmann will take it as he finally gets win number one of the 2008 season. Blessed with a big 11-2 lead, Bergamnn and two other pitchers almost implode when the Rockies score 7 runs in the 7th to close within a run, but the Nats score 3 in the top of the 9th to seal the deal and send Bergmann home happy now that he is 1-12. Six errors between the two teams (four by the Nationals with three of those errors from Ryan Zimmerman including two in the same inning) make 12 of the 24 total runs in the game unearned. This was game two of a doubleheader, and the Nationals also won game one 7-3 for a two game winning streak to tie their highest winning streak of the season which they have now accomplished seven times. Center fielder Lastings Milledge slammed 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the
Washington Nationals outscored the Colorado Rockies 14 to 10.
Milledge enjoyed a big day at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the
1st inning, belted a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and doubled bringing
in a run in the 5th inning. Washington had 16 hits overall, while Colorado
had 11.
The victory was credited to Jason Bergmann(1-12) who went 6 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 6 runs. Jeff Francis(4-10) was charged with the loss. He was
touched for 3 homeruns in his 5 innings of work.
