July 25, 2008 Yankees 6, Red Sox 5

Your typical thrilling Sox-Yankees affair. Josh Beckett is saved his 10th loss of the year when the Sox come back from a 5-1 defecit with a 3-run 6th and a run in the 7th to tie the score, but A-Rod greets Mike Timlin into the game with a solo shot leading off the 8th inning. Mariano Rivera goes the final two for New York, with the only damage off him being a Sean Casey 9th inning two-out pinch-hit single. Derek Jeter has a perfect 5 for 5 day for the Yanks, and starter Joda Chamberlin (who no-hit the Sox three weeks ago) doesn't get that chance today as Jacoby Ellsbury led off the Sox 1st inning with a single.

Today also marks the successful return of Mr. Big Papi after an almost two month abscence. David Ortiz goes back into his customary 3 spot in the lineup and does his part with a 2 for 4 day, a walk and an RBI.
