June 21, 2008 Phillies 10, Cardinals 2

With my top two hitters in the lineup Jimmy Rollins (4 for 34) and Shane Victorino (4 for 25 and losing his batting title lead) mired in slumps, I decide to switch them in the lineup and have Victorino at leadoff and Rollins second in the order to try to breath a little life into each of them along with the team as a whole. It pays immediate dividends, as Victorino blasts the ball out of the park for a 2-run homerun in the 3rd and a what would look like a grand slam if you look on he scoresheet (it was actually a 3-run double with Victorino scoring on an error throwing home) during a 6 run Phillie 6th inning for 5 RBI on the day.

The Phillies 6th inning:

The Los Angeles(AL) Angels pitchers essentially took the day off at Citizen's
Bank Park as the Philadelphia Phillies offense erupted for 10 runs while
Brett Myers(6-5)with bullpen support surrendered 2 runs to Los
Angeles(AL).

It was a good day for Philadelphia thanks to Shane Victorino. He cracked a
two-run shot (his 14th of the season) in the 3rd inning and doubled clearing
the bases in the 6th inning. Los Angeles(AL) was out-hit by Philadelphia, 11
hits to 6.

Joe Saunders(6-5) ended up with the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in
his 5 and 1/3 innings of work. Philadelphia now has a record of 36-40. Los
