| Very tough luck loss, as a nice comeback to tie and a glorious chance in the 9th to win are both wasted. Texas scored 2 quick runs in the 1st, but Jamie Moyer settles down some while solo homeruns for Jayson Werth and Chase Utley tie the score, 2-2. After the Rangers get two on to lead off the 7th on a walk and single off of a tiring Moyer, Clay Condrey induces a double play for two outs but Josh Hamilton gets a base knock to drive in the eventual winning run. A bases loaded- one out chance in the top of the 9th goes by the wayside when Pedro Feliz grounds into the 5-2-3 doubleplay to end the game on a sour note. This concludes interleague play for the Phillies, as they go 6-9 in the games against the American League. A bunch of slumping bats isn't helping any, specifically the bat of Shane Victorino. Once one of the hottest hitters in baseball batting over .400, an 0 for 25 slump and only 6 for 60 in his last 12 games has knocked his once league leading batting average of ,403 down almost 60 points. Ryan Howard has only two homeruns in his last 10 games, and the Phillies have lost 10 of their last 15. The pitching has been there, only allowing more than 5 runs once in the last 15, but the once-potent offense has sputtered a bit. Maybe going back to the NL will shake things back into gear. |

One run was the difference at Ameriquest Field as the Texas Rangers defeated
the Philadelphia Phillies 3 to 2.
Philadelphia was unable to claim the lead after Texas went ahead in the 7th
inning scoring one runner on 2 hits. Philadelphia threatened in the 9th but
Texas was able to put down the rally.
Eric Hurley(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Eddie
Guardado got the save, his 3rd. Jamie Moyer(7-7) was the loser. He allowed
3 runs and 6 hits in 6 innings.
'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us today' Gary Lucas said.
'We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard to take.'
