| The Red Sox make the most of their first ever trip to Houston, putting double digits on the board as everyone gets in on the act. All position starters had at least a hit, run and RBI except for Julio Lugo who just had a run scored. A 7-run 3rd inning put the game away early. A pleasant surprise so far in the Sox interleague NL park games has been the hitting of the pitchers. A double today for Dice-K along with a sacrifice bunt and Justin Masterson had a hit in his start. The pitchers may only have 2 hits in 17 atbats for a .118 avg and two sac bunts total, but that ain't bad for AL pitchers. It is even better than the hiting of two National League teams pitchers, the Reds (16 for 146 at .110) and the Giants (17 for 146 at .116)! |

WEB GEMS- Top 2nd: Miguel Tejada robbed Julio Lugo of a base hit.
In a one-sided affair the Boston Red Sox batters pounded the Houston Astros
pitchers for 10 runs while Daisuke Matsuzaka(7-2)with the aid of the bullpen
surrendered 2 runs to Houston.
Houston fell behind quickly as the Boston offense came through in the first
inning scoring 2 runs on 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Dustin Pedroia
opened up the rally as he doubled. J.D. Drew stepped up to the plate and he
smashed a two-run homer (his 13th of the season). Manny Ramirez dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. Mike Lowell was up next and he stroked
a base-hit. Kevin Youkilis was next to the plate, but was promptly struck
out. Boston had 15 hits overall, while Houston had 6.
Runelvys Hernandez(0-1) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around,
surrendering 7 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.
