Neithe rteam would score again after that. Only two Phillie hits for the day, a Ryan Howard RBI single in the first inning and a pinch-hit single for Mike Cervenak in the 7th. The streaking Arizona Diamondbacks put 5 runs on the scoreboard in the 3rd
inning and defeated the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 5 to 2 at
Citizen's Bank Park.
Doug Davis(3-6) earned his pay with a solid performance for Arizona. He went
7 innings surrendering 2 hits and 4 walks. After the 3rd inning, neither
team was able to score.
Davis got help from Chad Qualls who earned his 9th save. Kyle Kendrick(3-9)
took the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 5 runs in 4
innings.
Arizona continued their winning ways, seemingly unable to lose during this
stretch.
