July 3, 2008 Red Sox 4, Yankees 1

No problem for Jon Lester today, as he pitches shutout ball until allowing singles to the first two batters in the 8th inning and gets relieved at that point. One of those runners would score, but it was anemic in the outcome of the game. Manny Ramirez and Mike Lowell both hit 2-run homeruns for all the runs the Sox would need. Mr. Automatic goes an uneventful 9th with 2 K's and records his 16th save.

Tried to run a bit today with the +3 throwing Jorge Posada catching and the Yankee pitchers in the game being Andy Pettitte (+5), David Robertson (+7) and Dan Giese (+9), but it didn't make it go as well as I would have liked. Ellsbury and Coco each had a steal, but Pedroia, Lowell and Youk all got caught stealing on split cards of 17, 19 and 19. Don't care who you are, a 19 split card on a steal sttempt is pretty much guaranteed a caught stealing.

11th straight win for the Sox, who over the course of the last three weeks have knocked the Jays lead over them from 10 1/2 games down to the current two while taking over second place from the Rays.
