| For the second game in a row, Clay Condrey is the goat allowing two runs in extra frames to give the Phillies another agonizing loss. He wasn't all to blame today however. First of all, Jamie Moyer gives the Mets a quick 4-0 lead in the 1st inning before the Phillies even had a chance to bat. But Moyer settled down while the Phillie power goes to work with a solo homerun for Chase Utley, a 2-run shot by Chris Coste and a 3-run bomb for Pat Burrell which gives them a 6-4 lead. The lead didn't hold, as Tom Gordon does his best to give the game away allowing 3 Met runs plus an inherited run to score as part of a 4 run Mets 8th to give the Mets the 8-6 lead. But the Phils come back again with two runs off of ex-teammate Billy Wagner to tie the game 8-all in the bottom of the 9th. The score would remain 8-8 until the Condrey suckness in the 11th, although he was helped along by an uncharacteristic error by Chase Utley at the exact wrong time which directly scored a run and allowed a run to go to third which would score on a sac fly. |
