Josh Beckett continues to be plagued with lack of help from his teammates as his 4.00 run support is worst on the team (the team is averaging 5.51 runs per game), only allowing two runs and striking out 10 but as we know you can't win a game if your teammates don't score any runs. Beckett falls to 5-9 despite an ERA below 4 as three Angels combine on the 5-hit shutout. The Sox do get two runners on in the 9th off of Francisco Rodriguez with singles for Pedroia and Manny, but nobody can score as Rodriguez gets the save for the second straight day.

Joe Saunders(7-7) and Josh Beckett(5-9) treated the Los Angeles(AL) fans to a
fine pitching duel at Angels Stadium.  The Los Angeles(AL) Angels eventually
emerged as victors over the Boston Red Sox by the score of 2 to 0.
 
Saunders pitched a fine game.  He surrendered 3 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings
lowering his ERA to 4.38.  Boston threatened in the 9th but Los Angeles(AL)
was able to put down the rally.  
 
Saunders got help from Francisco Rodriguez who was credited with his 24th
save.
