July 2, 2008 Red Sox 12, Rays 2

Mike Lowell singlehandedly destroys the Rays knocking in 7 runs on a 2-run homerun, an RBI groundout and a grand salami that finally knocks a very innefective Scott Kazmir from the game. Kasmir just totally sucked the joint out by walking 7 and allowing 8 runs, including the two Lowell homeruns. A wild game all around with 18 walks, 11 by the Rays enabling the Sox to get 12 runs on only 9 hits. The score could have been higher if not for the 25 runners left on base, 11 by the Sox and 14 for the Rays including three separate innings that the Rays load the bases and fail to score.

Meanwhile, Daisuke Matsuzaka enjoys his teammates offensive explosion and cruises allong to his 8th win of the year tying Tim Wakefield for the team lead in wins and the Sox win their 10th straight game.

WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Jacoby Ellsbury robbed Cliff Floyd of an extra base hit.

Third baseman Mike Lowell blasted 2 homeruns as the sizzling Boston Red Sox
clobbered the outmatched Tampa Bay Rays, 12 to 2.

Lowell was unconscious all day. The Tampa Bay fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He cleared
the fences for a two-run home run in the 3rd inning and quieted the crowd by
clouting a Grand Slam (his 13th of the season) in the 7th inning. Boston
simply wore out the Tampa Bay pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.

Daisuke Matsuzaka(8-2) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory.
Scott Kazmir(5-3) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 8 runs in 6 innings.

Boston continued their winning ways, seemingly unable to lose during this
stretch.
