July 4, 2008 Brewers 5, Pirates 0

Fireworks on the pitching side as the Ben Sheets of the Brewers tosses the third no-hitter of my 2008 SOM season, joining Greg Smith and Johan Santana in the no-no club as he no-hits the sad sack Pirates. Two walks were the only blemishes to Sheets' day, and he retired the last 13 straight to go out in style while striking out 9 Bucs for the game.

Also, I forgot to mention in the previously blogged Red Sox game that the loss ended their 11 game winning streak.

Milwaukee fans certainly got their money's worth at Miller Park. Ben
Sheets(7-4) pitched a rare no-hitter as the Milwaukee Brewers toppled the
Pittsburgh Pirates 5 to 0.

Sheets was cheered on with every out from the 7th inning onward. The
adrenaline had to be just pumping through his veins. The atmosphere was
electric out there in Miller Park this afternoon! He walked 2 Pittsburgh
batters. The tension started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th
inning the crowd was electrified. Milwaukee managed 12 hits in their
victory.

Tom Gorzelanny(4-8) ended up with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing
9 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings. When asked how his stuff was out
there, Sheets looked a bit incredulous (as did this reporter) and replied 'A
bit better than average, I'd have to say'
