July 20, 2008 Angels 7, Red Sox 1

The Sox score first in the top of the 1st inning, however that was all they would do as the Angels dominate and deny Tim Wakefield his first shot at win number 10. Sox have come out flat since the All-Star break as the Angels sweep the three game series and Boston drops back into second place in the East, two percentage points behind Toronto.

Jeff Mathis touched them all and had 2 RBI at Angels Stadium as the Los
Angeles(AL) Angels beat the Boston Red Sox 7 to 1.

In the bottom of the 2nd inning Los Angeles(AL) scored 3 runs with the help of
3 hits. Torii Hunter led off and started the rally when he stroked a
one-base hit. Hunter was safe at second on a stolen base. Garret Anderson
then stroked a base-hit. After another out, Howie Kendrick dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. Mathis stepped into the box and cracked
a two-run shot (his 8th of the season). That early scoring held up. Los
Angeles(AL) ended up with 11 hits for the game while Boston had 6.

The win went to Jon Garland(7-7) who allowed 1 run in 8 innings. The loss was
charged to Tim Wakefield(9-6). He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in
5 innings.
